Get ready to set sail again with Dwayne Johnson and Auliʻi Cravalho in live-action ‘Moana’ remake

Disney fans, get ready to set sail once again with “Moana”! In a recent announcement, the entertainment giant revealed that a live-action remake of the 2016 animated hit is in the works, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Dwayne Johnson, who voices the demigod Maui in the original film, will be returning to reprise his role and also co-produce the movie. Joining him as an executive producer is Auliʻi Cravalho, who voices the titular character Moana. The talented Dana Ledoux Miller will also be back to write the screenplay.

The announcement was made during Disney’s annual shareholder meeting, and both Johnson and Cravalho expressed their excitement for the project. In a statement, Johnson shared that “this story is my culture, and this story is emblematic of our people’s grace and warrior strength.” He also thanked Disney for their commitment to this special endeavor, which honors the story of their people and their passion through music and dance.

Cravalho also shared her enthusiasm for the project, saying that Moana’s strength and perseverance are inspiring, not only to audiences around the world but to everyone who helped bring her to life.

For those who haven’t seen the original film, “Moana” tells the story of a brave young woman who sets out on a dangerous journey to save her island from ecological destruction. Along the way, she encounters Maui, a demigod of the wind and sea, who becomes her ally in recovering a sacred artifact and returning it to the goddess Te Fiti. Drawing its inspiration from Polynesian myths, the film was a huge success, grossing over $665 million worldwide and even garnering an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature.

As fans eagerly await more details about the live-action remake, one thing is for sure: this beloved story is set to make an even bigger splash on the big screen once again.
