However before she became the host of Bravo’s cooking cash cow Top Chef, Padma Lakshmi had a successful career as a model for top designers such as Armani, Versace, Ralph Lauren, and Cavalli just to name a few. She parlayed this into a respectable acting career with appearances in Star Trek:Enterprise, The Ten Commandments, and most regrettably Mariah Carey’s Glitter. 

What is incredibly is after her appearance in Glitter Padma was not “Chopped” from a career in Hollywood. Wait..Chopped is the other show, but you know what I mean.

And let us not forget her career as a writer. She had a syndicated column in the New York Times, fashion articles for Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and of course award winning cookbooks including Easy Exotic and Tangy, Tart, Hot and Sweet. (Both of which make great names for Indian cookbooks and Indian themed porn.)

Currently Padma Lakshmi is going strong as not only a TV host but also executive producer and has been involved with philanthropic endeavors including Keep a Child Alive, a non profit organization which brings dignified treatment, care, and support for children and families affected by HIV.
