Krazoom’s Picks

Movie: 200 Pounds Beauty

Starring the incredibly beautiful Kim Ah Joong this romantic comedy is a Korean smash hit. Kim Ah Joong plays Han-na an overweight singer eager to shed the pounds and win her man by undergoing an extreme makeover no matter the cost. The movie also provides a tremendously popular soundtrack covered by many artists and fans.

Series: Dae Jang-Geum aka Jewel in the Palace

Dae Jang Geum starring Lee Young Ae is loosely based on the life of Korea’s very first female royal physician in the Joseon Dynasty. This series was a massive success throughout Korea but aside from its Korean success it also went on to be broadcasted in dozens of countries around the world. The depiction of this historical figure has continued to inspire and move many.

Track: Akeboshi – Wind

Now I’m no Naruto fan. In fact I can go as far to say I’m a proud member of the Anti Naruto Correlation. And if there isn’t one yet then I’ve just invented it. Even though I don’t like the series I’ll admit the music is surprisingly good. Akeboshi lends his talent to the 1st Naruto ending theme “Wind”. Sung in English the songs instrumental has a very Irish Celtic tone.

Movie: Koizora a.k.a. Sky of Love

Koizora is a movie adaptation of the phenom cellphone novel starring Yui Aragaki as Mika and Haruma Miura as Hiro. It has a great cinematography and an absolute tearjerker storyline about a high school girl’s life journey of love, rape, unwanted pregnancy, separation, acceptance and reunion.

Series: Kahit Isang Saglit (Even for Just a Moment)

Track: Haru Haru – Big Bang

The danceable beat is quite contradictory to the lyrics and the storyline in the music video but those maybe are the reasons why the tune and the message of Big Bang’s Haru Haru will linger on one’s mind.
