Editors Picks of the Week: Dec 17

Rochelle’s Picks of the Week has been changed to “Editor’s Picks of the Week” because from now on many of the staff at Amped Asia are going to be giving you their picks. This week features Rochelle and Krazoom!

Rochelle’s Picks

Movie: Scarlet Letter

This movie was Lee Eun-Ju’s last and perhaps her best. The beautiful actress committed suicide right afterwards. I thought Scarlet Letter was an absolutely breathtaking movie with amazing cinematography. Lee was great in her last role, a role so controversial that she even took her life afterwards.

Series: Absolute Boyfriend (Zettai Kareshi)

The Japanese love cyborgs, and Absolute Boyfriend is one of those series that features a cyborg boyfriend. The series is hilarious because of all the funny situations that the characters get into. Expect to cry also at the end. Watch it if you’re looking for a light-hearted drama that takes a serious turn.

Track: Rainism – Rain

This happens to be one of my favorite tracks right now, maybe because Rain keeps saying that he’s a bad boy? Anyways I like the remix a lot. This and Love Story are my favorite tracks on Rain’s latest album.

Krazoom’s Picks

Movie: Sakuran

J Rock artist Anna Tsuchiya stars a as Kiyoha a young girl sold to a brothel in the red-light distract of Yoshiwara as a child. Tsuchiya brings the fire as a rebellious avid courtesan on a journey to become an oiran (high class courtesan) but her true desire is escaping. Visually stunning and well acted Sakuran is a must see!

Series: Iljimae

Lee Jun Ki stars as several characters in this gritty-campy story set in the Joseon Dynasty. With a barrage of incredibly choreographed action sequences, a heartbreaking plot and several campy moments for the funny bone this one keeps eyelids peeled.

Track: It’s a Crime – Crystal Kay

Kuri’s 8th album was filled with great tracks but this one stood out most. Written by Bloodshy & Avant (a favorite of Britney) It’s a Crime the only English track on the album will make you hop out your seat, smack someone and dance like a fool.
