I’m so tired of the same ol’ stuff that we get in McDonald’s, Burger King, and KFCs in America. Burgers, fries, shakes — it seems like nothing is unique over here. On the other hand, Asia has got some very “interesting” dishes that seem downright crazy. I decided to write this article because I saw this monstrosity on the news.

The Zinger Double Down King

Remember the “double down?” Well KFC Korea raised the novelty stakes by apparently releasing a bun-less heart attack burger called the Zinger Double Down King. The creation is exactly what it looks like: A beef patty smack down in the middle of two fried chicken patties and of course, bacon. Its slogan, “No bun. All meat.”

So that got me thinking. What other really weird foods are they serving over there in Asia. Here’s my list.

Kuro Black Burger

The Japanese are very creative when it comes to food because a few years back, Burger King unleashed an all black burger called the “Kuro Burger” (Japanese for black). It was originally released in 2012 and had a few updates. Not sure how making a burger black makes it more yummy, but apparently the shock factor of the burger made it marketable enough to sell.

Promised Heart Attack Burgers

I am not quite sure where these monstrosities come from but surely one would die after finishing one of these. Doesn’t even make sense to me why these were even made since no one can even take a bite out of this. You would simply have to eat each bun one by one.

Pizza Burger

Can’t decide between a pizza and a burger? Why not have both!? Burger King in China has a HUGE pizza burger that available. They encourage you to share it but nahh…

Mayonnaise Ice Cream

There’s a restaurant in Nagoya, Japan call Mayomayo, whose menu is dedicated to incorporating mayonnaise in all its dishes. A wide variety of items available include meals such mayonnaise fondue and mayonnaise sausages. The item that seems to stand out the most in this case is Mayonnaise Ice Cream! (Also available in a mayonnaise milk shake.) UGHH… that sounds gross. But at least it looks just like a normal vanilla cone.

Sweet Taro Pie

Taro is getting introduced more in the States (Taro Ice Cream is one of my favorites), but it’s very prevalent and popular in Asia. For those that don’t know, taro is a sweet Asian root. The McDonalds in China offers Taro filled pies. Now this is something I would definitely want to try.
