Dainashi is becoming one of those random Youtube findings you can’t help but watch, yet have no reason why. Donned in a Pro Wrestling mask, blue shorts, and not much else he is becoming a fan favorite among otaku in Japan and all over the world for his frenetic energy and slick drum playing prowess.

Now covering old school video game is nothing particularly new, samples of classic beats and digitized sounds are even used subtly in mainstream music today. So on paper a masked drummer playing old school hits from games like Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Kirby, and a plethora of old school games doesn’t seem like anything too out of the ordinary. Boy would you be wrong.
Check out Dainashi ripping the skins to shreds with this Chrono Trigger tribute:
Of course his drumming is what is mainly on display here, but one can’t but help smile at the random bits of odd editing, charismatic drum tricks, and of course the mysterious persona crafted by Dainashi himself.
Little is known about the masked drummer or even why he decided to start posting random videos of him covering classic RPG video game music, but one just has to look at his Twitter feed and we know he is doing something right.
Dainashi’s fan base is steadily growing with Japanese followers filling his Twitter feed with online love. So check out the crazy antics of the masked stranger beating the drums!
As for what’s next for Dainashi? Who knows, but you can bet he is preparing the next generation to carry on the mantle.
