Audition ReviewSeven years after Aoyoma's wife dies, Aoyoma decides to remarry at the suggestion of his son. Because love is hard to find in Japan for a middle aged man, Aoyoma and his friend, a TV producer, decide to hold fake movie auditions in hopes of finding a suitable mate for Aoyoma. Immediately a woman named Asami Yamazaki grasps Aoyoma's attention, but things aren't what they seem. Although Aoyoma falls deeper in love with her, there is an air of danger and mystery surrounding this beautiful girl.
You've got to be seriously twisted if you actually enjoy watching Audition. The movie is unbearable in almost every aspect. The plot would be interesting had it not dragged on for such a long time. For a horror movie, the first three quarters had absolutely no scary parts. The end was frightening, but purely because of the grisly scenes that come at the climax of the film. This film had a lot of potential, but because it didn't deliver any scares the first part of the film, one might be bored before being able to completely finish the film and see the scene that caused several theater-goers to actually walk out of the movie. The plot could have been amped up a little bit to include a few more scares. The synopsis is one of the main reasons that I actually went and rented this film, but I finished the movie disappointed with the overall movie. I'll say that the acting of Asami Yamazaki was spot on. She was creepy as ever throughout the whole film, yet still maintained an alluring personality as well. No other characters were particularly memorable. Aoyoma, the father, seemed pretty boring and stupid at times. His son was also a bit too jovial for this kind of movie. Skip this movie, Japanese horror has several better titles. Written by Lance Read Amped Asia's review of Audition Share User Reviews for Audition
