What Happened in Bali Review
Bali is considered "heaven on earth" with its many beach resorts and beautiful tropical surroundings. There's really no one who wouldn't want to indulge in the many luxuries that it provides. With such lush settings, not everyone can enjoy it unless they have a nice sum of money. Lee Soo-jung is a cheerful tour guide in Bali. Although she is poor, her dream is to meet a rich man who can give her that life in "paradise." One day, she meets not only one of these potential men but two! After that "fated" meeting, Soo-jung's life changes with a series of misfortunes in Bali which lead to her return to Korea. Back in Korea, Soo-jung is faced with her brother's financial problems and must work to pay off his debt however, as if fate played a role, the two men she met in Bali are back in her life. Her relationship between the two men, Jung Jae-min and Kang In-wook builds which unfortunately complicates her life as well as theirs as jealously arises between the men and Jae-min's fiancé, Choi Young-joo. Will Soo-jung have her happy ending in "paradise?"

The story was intense! I loved it! It's a lot different from the typical romance dramas that Korea provides because it leaves you in suspense. It truly has a deep story and it surely provides a shocking ending. This story isn't one of those "happy ever after" ones, it's very twisted but it left me completely satisfied for not having such a joyous ending. All of the actors and actresses that played in this drama were terrific! They truly performed their characters superbly without any disappointments. Lee Soo-jung (Ha Ji-won) was that optimistic girl who was going to make it in life even though her brother's debts left her begging for employment. Her thoughts and emotions were so well hidden you couldn't really tell what she was thinking towards the end which made the ending all the more shocking. Jung Jae-min (Jo In-sung) was a younger son of the PAX group CEO whose father beat him inconsiderately when he made bad decisions. He's ignorance and transition from a spoiled brat to a mature adult on the brink of madness was so well played, I must applaud. Kang In-wook (So Ji-sup) received the highest score on the test for the PAX Company which led to promotions and a seat not too far under Jae-min. So Ji-sup's character was very lonely but attractive and his actions in that company are so sly, it's inspiring. You just wouldn't expect him to do something so bold so secretively. The two male leads both performed well in wooing Soo-Jung as well; one treating her with respect and care and the other treating her with money. Choi Young-joo (Park Ye Jin), Jae-min's fiance, truly was a vixen. Her attitude and actions towards the other characters were so pathetic (not a bad thing in the character's case), I just couldn't help hating her (then feel sorry for her…)! The other actors such as the families and friends of the leads are amusing and abusive and play in well for the drama. No complaints what so ever. They all added some zest to the story.

There are 20 episodes total. A good length for the drama. I don't believe any parts of it were rushed or that any parts were slow or boring. There's not much I can say about the length of the drama because the story ended where it should have and in a decent matter and I'm happy.

Lots of humor, folks! NOT! This one has very little humor. It's complete and utter drama. There's romance, twists, jealousy…this drama provides everything that isn't "happy, happy." This drama also makes you think. You can't help but wonder, "What's going to happen?", or "Who's she gonna pick?" You may think you know how it's going to end, but you find yourself wrong (unless you read spoilers)!

An intense drama can't go without intense music. The background music is very mysterious which goes along well when there's jealousy looming. There are also other songs well suited for a romantic setting and the singers are very good. All in all, I'd have to say there's a very good soundtrack.

I would recommend this for everyone (meaning adults). It's a really good drama. Maybe more suited for women, but I have no doubts men will probably like it too. WHIB is not one of those cutesy dramas. There's violence, infidelity, and romance that really keeps you interested regardless of gender. After one episode, you really want to know what happens next and once you've completed it all, you're left speechless, stunned with you jaw wide open saying "What?!" in your head. In my opinion, this drama is a must see.
