Asako is your typical seventeen-year-old, high school truant. She has no goals for the future and doesn't know what direction her life is taking. Then she meets Aoki Kazuyoshi, a ten-year-old boy living nearby. Although still a precocious child, Kazuyoshi poses as a twenty-six-year-old housewife on an erotic internet chat site. Kazuyoshi invites Asako into the erotic business world, and she immediately becomes immersed in an adult world that she had no idea existed. The door is wide open for the curious Asako, who discovers things that she has never dreamed of, but is this truly the right path for her life?
I am a big fan of Aya Ueto and I love her acting, but this movie wasn't a good display of her talents. I had such high hopes for something good, but the result wasn't satisfactory. You might think that a bad movie can be saved by good eye candy, but after watching Install, I was convinced otherwise. Install is a film that is about sex, but the actual movie is quite unsexy. There's nothing erotic about this film at all, and it was actually a bit too cutesy. If you got this movie to watch Aya Ueto in a sex scene, you will definitely be disappointed.
The acting wasn't bad, but the plot was this movie's killing blow. Kazuyoshi is quite an interesting character because he is a ten-year-old genius who also has more knowledge about sex than the average adult (I know it's sad, but I learned the meaning of “scat” through this movie). Since his character is only ten years old, I thought it was too much of a stretch, and this movie doesn't emphasize how and why Aoki Kazuyoshi is the way he is. His role would have been more suitable had he been a bit older, and this could have possibly led this movie to become a quite a bit more interesting. Kazuyoshi and Asako definitely have some potential romance, but the age difference hinders this plot morally wrong. If Kazuyoshi was eighteen or even seventeen, this movie would have probably been much more exciting.
Aya Ueto is extremely adorable as always, and she plays her stereotypical role of the innocent and overly cute female. Still, I found her character to be too one-dimensional. When the film ended, I didn't really feel the character development, or a suitable explanation for the resolution. The movie doesn't build up anything and end at a climax, but rather, the film repeats the same inane events over and over until the director decided that enough was enough. Still, Aya Ueto is eye candy, and she has some very cute scenes, but this wasn't enough to make this film interesting.
This movie is only for diehard fans of Aya Ueto. Do not pick this up if you don't absolutely love Aya Ueto or you will regret it. There are very few parts to this movie that actually interested me, and I am actually a big fan of hers. There are many better movies out there to watch. Although this movie is labeled as a comedy, I didn't really find it to be amusing or humorous at all. The bottom line – avoid this film.
