He Was Cool Review
Han Ye-Won is an outspoken high school student who angers Ji Eun Song, a guy known to be rather notorious at another school. Her act gets her in heaps of trouble. Not only has Eun Song threatened to kill her, but he threatens her to marry him?! Wait, what? You're going to have to watch this movie to find out why Eun Song is such a tough cookie and why, as the title insinuates, "he was cool."

The story was typical of most movies revolving around high school students with one character being poor, yet eccentric, and the other a delinquent with a mysterious background. It wasn't half bad, really. There were parts of the story I really enjoyed but some parts of the story where things were just left unexplained. All in all however, I was able to sit through it all.

Ye-won (played by Jung Da Bin) was quirky and adorable. She always seemed to find a way to piss Eun Song (Song Seung Heon) off, might it be through her words or even her actions which added humor to the story. Eun Song was a tough guy who was quick tempered and edgy when someone touched him, but his transition from holding on to a difficult past to living a resolved future with hope lightened his personality, making him might I say "cool"? The other characters in the movie didn't have much limelight and were mainly the characters whose stories were left unexplained but each character helped reveal Eun Song's tragic past.

The movie provided a lot of comedy. I laughed a fair amount throughout but it wasn't one of those comedies where I couldn't stop laughing. It was more like a chuckle here and there. There was romance but it wasn't deep till the end but even at the end it wasn't like "Oh, what an amazing love story". So, this movie's strong point was mainly the comedy and perhaps the bits of action too.

There wasn't much music to go along with this movie and if there was, I really didn't notice it. What I heard was the kind of symphonic music you'd often hear playing in the background of a fairy tale movie where the princess meets her prince and it's all joyous and festive. Thus, the music wasn't very outstanding.

This movie wasn't horrible to watch since I was able to sit through it to the end (even though I'd sit through it anyways since I can't not complete a movie), yet I still think it's not amazing either. I think both genders can enjoy this movie because there are fighting scenes for the guys and hot guys for the girls. Truly, it's a great mixture to draw in an audience. I wouldn't recommend this movie for people who love steamy romances or over-the-top comedy that'll make you want to rush to the bathroom. This movie has none of that. Most of it is subtle humor and romance good for a teenage crowd (after all, it is about high school students).
