Empress Chun Chu Review
Evil. Heart-wrenching. Greed. Jealousy. Revenge. These are just a few adjectives that can be described for the Korean drama series Empress Chun Chu a.k.a. The Iron Empress.

The stereotypical views of women in the royal families were to get married and give birth to children to carry on the family's lineage. However, women played important roles as political tactician by taking part in conspiracies and causing internal wars within the palace. Women had to stay out of politics at all time; leaving women have no power whatsoever; however, woman's role in history has changed in a drastic way.

Empress Chun Chu also known as "The Iron Empress" is the granddaughter of Wang Gun, the first emperor of Goryeo. She inherited her grandfather´s vision as well as his Great Spirit. The empress fights against the enemies trying to collapse Goryeo, and was called as ‘The Iron Empress' who gets rid of her brother Wang Chi, son Wang Song, and even her lover Kim Chi Yang, for the good sake of the empire.

Being a royal fanatic of stories inside the palace, this drama really portrays how life in the palace isn't always pretty as people picture it. Having power, fame, and wealth sounds like a dream come true, but there is a cost to such values. The person that you thought can be trusted turns their backs on you. The person that you love pretended that they really loved you. The characters in the drama that you least suspected will have you guessing who was really portraying the good or bad guys. However, at some point throughout the series, I was left with some disappointment as Empress Chun Chu fell in love with Kim Chi Yang, who was really using her to get what he wanted; I wish she would listen to her subordinates for once as they knew about his "real" motives.

Above all else, this drama is perfect for all ages, but preferably teenagers to adults will enjoy it the most as it does date back in history of Korea; it requires some understanding to get the full affect of the story. The music and the actors in the series, I believe the producers did a superb job on selection. All of the actors and actresses did a superb job of portraying their individual character. The music selections being played in scene are chosen beautifully that it makes you feel as if you were really there.

If it was possible, I would rate this series over 10 stars. I am deeply grateful to the production directors, the writers, and the whole cast of characters for giving me and the rest of the world the chance to experience such a wonderful story! Whether or not you're a royal fanatic, I will highly recommend this to anyone. If you're like me that like story that will have your heart aching, this series is a MUST see!!!
