All In Review
All In is a romantic, thrilling drama which stars Song Hye Kyo, as Min Su-yon and Lee Byung Hun as Kim In-Ha. Kim In-Ha lost both his parents in an accident and now lives with his uncle, Kim Chi-soo, a poor hustler. One day as they narrowly escape a gambling escapade, In-Ha meets a pretty girl named Su-yon on a train. As she gets off, she is robbed by In-Ha's childhood friends and loses her precious music box her dead mother had left behind. Su-yon then travels into the city to look for her father. She finds him getting beaten up by a gang over an unpaid loan, however, she chooses to live with him at his workplace in the cinema. In-Ha meets Su-yon again as the gangs were beating up her father. He and his friend, Jung-won, fights the gang and therefore creates lifetime enemies. Su-yon and In-ha slowly falls in love. However, one day, In-Ha is suddenly taken to jail and he was sentenced to seven years in prison. Will they ever meet again?

This drama mainly focuses on three dramatic points: In-Ha's life-threatening relationship with Yim Dae-soo, his life as a professional gambler, and the fate of Su-yon and his love. There are many scenes with revengeful violence and fights for obtaining or protecting love. This tension among the many antagonists and protagonists creates thrilling drama that is interesting to watch.

Humor is also an element to this drama that is overlooked. The poor, naive uncle of In-Ha, Chi-soo becomes rich as In-Ha becomes the benefactor. Chi-soo's ambitious personality and his unluckiness cause most of the humorous moments in the series.

Although several people fall for Su-yon and In-Ha, they both keep their strong feelings for each other without any ambivalence throughout the drama. Walls of conflicts and personal destinies come between the lovers' way, nevertheless, their love never fades creating a nice, bittersweet ending.

All In has three important and dynamic characters. The main character, Kim In-Ha, changes his position in society throughout the drama. He begins his life in a poor environment with his uncle, however, he obtains an important job under a rich hotel chairman named Suh Seung-don. Nevertheless, he is then faced with a murder charge and goes into hiding in the United States falling into destitution once again. Min Su-yon faces similar situations in the drama. Like In-Ha, she starts in poverty and finds an opportunistic job under the same chairman. She changes her occupation several times creating an central character in the series. Choi Jung-won also contributed significantly to the main storyline, as he starts off as a close friend of In-Ha; however, due to the competition between their companies and the love for Su-yon, they become worst enemies at the end. In my opinion, Kim In-Ha is the greatest hero in All In. Throughout his life, he never changes the way he feels toward Su-yon and does everything he can to protect her and to love her. He is a man that never lies to his feelings.

The series should be watched by anyone that is looking for a somewhat serious and more action-oriented drama. The romance is central to the series, but the drama unfolds from several different points. All In is a great Korean drama and is recommended for anyone interested in soap operas, or even just fans of Song Hye Kyo.
