Biography

Tomohisa Yamashita (山下 智久 Yamashita TomohisaI) is a Japanese actor, and an idol. He is widely known as Yamapi, and is a member of the Japanese band, NEWS. He has a younger sister named Rina and has a degree in marketing from Meiji University. Yamashita began his acting career at age 11 as he joined the Johnny & Associates, a Japanese talent agency, in 1996.

Merely 4 years into his career, he was awarded "Best Newcomer" after his superb performance in Ikebukuro West Gate Park in 2000. His official CD debut with NEWS was in 2004 and their singles have been ranked No.1 twelve consecutive times on the Oricon Chart. His fame rose even further as he released his first hit solo single, "Daite Senorita" in 2006. Some of his highest rated dramas after 2000 includes: Dragon Zakura (2005), Kurosagi (2006), and Buzzer Beat (2009).

Starting the summer of 2008, Yamashita starred in the Code Blue series, where he played as an emergency medical doctor specializing in Emergency Flight Response along with other famous actresses such as Erika Toda and Yui Aragaki. As the series obtained outstanding ratings, Code Blue SP was further broadcasted in 2009 and Code Blue 2 in 2010.
