Biography

Tae Yang (real name 동영배 Dong Young-bae) born May 18 1988, is a member of the Korean band, BIG BANG which is under YG Entertainment. On the side, Tae Yang works as a solo artist. At the age of twelve, Tae Yang entered YG Entertainment with fellow Big Bang member, G-Dragon. After six years of vocal and dance training he made his debut in 2006 as the lead vocalist of Big Bang.

Tae Yang is seen as the shy, sweet and sensitive one of the group.

Originally Tae Yang was set to become a rapper along with G-Dragon in a duo called GDYB. However, their management agency, YG Entertainment, decided that they would debut with a larger group and titled them "Big Bang."

Tae Yang started solo activities away from Big Bang in 2008 and released his debut mini-album Hot on May 22, 2008, which was well received by critics and fans. Tae Yang said that he wanted to focus on an R&B feel to his songs.

In 2009, Tae Yang released two digital singles entitled "Where You At" and "Wedding Dress."

In 2010 Tae Yang further worked on his solo activities, releasing his full length album, "Solar" on July 1, 2010. The title song was called "I Need a Girl" and featured an appearance by labelmate Sandara Park. The other single was entitled "I'll Be There."
