Lee Jun Ki was born on April 17, 1982 in Pusan, South Korea and graduated at the Seoul Institute of the Arts, which assisted in his debut as a model for the fashion brand 'So Basic'. But "The Hotel Venus (2004)", a Japanese production was his first official movie role as Boy, with Japanese actor Tsuyoshi Kusanagi and his second film "Flying Boys (2004)" as Dong Wan alongside Yoon Kye Sang and Kim Min Jung.
After Lee's big break as the effeminate Gong Gil in "The King and the Clown (2005)",
he took on more masculine roles to avoid typecasting. In 2006, Lee spared some of his private time for a fan meeting, Episode I, with his unprecedented 12,000 loyal fans at the Jamsil Gymnasium in South Korea. Lee's fan meetings aided in increasing his social status making his popularity boom across Asia, from Japan to Thailand. He later starred in unnotable films such as and "Fly, Daddy, Fly (2006)", "May 18 (2007)", and "Virgin Snow (2007)", but succeeded later on in television dramas such as Lee Soo Hyun / Kay's "Time Between Dog And Wolf (2007)", Ryung / Lee Geom's "Iljimae (2008)", and Jin Do Hyuk's "Hero (2009)."
In 2009, Lee Jun Ki worked primarily on his musical career for his second album, 'J Style' which released several digital singles, while holding big-scale concerts in South Korea, China, and Taiwan for the promotion of his Japanese album 'J Style, 1st Japan Album' sold in Japan. He was also appointed an ambassador for Korea tourism by the Korea Tourism Organization and again to promote Korea at the 2010 Shanghai Expo, where he received a letter of appointment from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency. Lee has also been serving as the promotional ambassador of the Korea Tourism Organization since 2009. He also made a free voice appearance on Korean language learning materials for foreigners slated to be published this month.
In February 2010, Lee launched his own company, 'JG Company Inc' where he has established himself for the film industry. However, he had entered a 2-year military service May 2010, thus cancelling his roles as Kang Chan in SBS's drama "Faith (2010)" and Woo Suk in the film, "Grand Prix (2010)". Lee Jun Ki will return as a civilian February 2012.
