Jericho Rosales Biography
Jericho Rosales, a talented Filipino actor, dancer, surfer and singer, achieved instant stardom and become a household name not just in the Philippines but also in other Southeast Asian countries and South American countries with the TV drama
Pangako Sa’yo.
Echo, as he was fondly called by fans and friends, debuted in the Philippine entertainment industry when he won a popular male beauty contest in 1996. He was able to make his presence felt in television dramas such as
Pangako Sayo and
Sana'y Wala nang Wakas, both shown in Malaysian television and other countries. He received awards for acting in two of
Maalaala Mo Kaya’s episodes,
Pasa in 2000 and
Pampang in 1998.
He also acted in movies such as
Panaghoy sa Suba,
Tanging Yaman and
Nasaan Ka Man, and won critical acclaim for his character portrayals. Furthermore, he was nominated for his role in the movie
Tanging Yaman, by every film award-giving body in the Philippines. He also completed his first Malaysian produced movie entitled
Bilut alongside Malaysian talents, in which he sang
Gadis Melayu, a Malaysian song, for the movie soundtrack.
After his portrayal of the lead character in the television fantasy drama
Panday, Echo chose to concentrate on his band
Jeans. The band released its debut album
Loose Fit in Malaysia with all 14 songs written by Echo. The album is a fusion of R&B, jazz and rock.
He is an advocate of PAWS (Philippine Animal Welfare Society) and campaigns for animal abuse awareness.
Echo also modeled for various print media and appeared in numerous television commercials. He is back in the Philippine television scene after a long break with the television drama
Pangarap Na Bituin, a musical television series, to be aired early September 2007.
