Jay Chou Biography
Jay was initially discovered when his friend entered a singing competition and asked him to play the accompanying musical score on the piano. The judges ended up taking more notice of Jay and he was given the chance to write songs on the piano. In 1998 Jay officially began working in a music studio writing lyrics for Taiwanese artists. He didn't gain much fame until Jacky Wu offered him a job as a singer. Eventually, Jay released his premiere album, the self-titled Jay.

It wasn't always this easy for Jay Chou. As a teen he wasn't the brightest child, yet he always had the penchant for music. His grades suffered, and he failed his college exams. At the time, most people thought he was going nowhere. He wasn't considered very good looking either, so the option of becoming a huge music celebrity didn't even occur to anyone.

Jay really proved many people wrong, as he has become one of Taiwan's most influential artists. To date, Jay has released seven albums. He is also made his mark in the film industry, and is set to star in some films such as Slam Dunk, an anime remake.
