Christian Bautista Biography
Christian Bautista, dubbed Asia’s Pop Idol, had his singing career taking off when he joined
Star in a Million, a singing contest in Philippine television, and became the contest’s most famous non-winner. He only grabbed the third runner-up prize.
Warner Music, his record label, paved the way for him to be known not only to the Philippine music industry but to neighboring Asian countries like Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, as well.
His self-titled album reached multi-platinum status in the Philippines and Indonesia and released two more albums entitled
Completely and
Just A Love Song…Christian Bautista Live! A special edition of the album
Completely which combines English songs from his debut and sophomore albums was launched in Singapore. His signature monster hit single
The Way You Look at Me also hit the no. 1 spot in popular radio stations in the Lion City.
Apart from having his first-ever Indonesian television special, appearing in Indonesian Idol and live concerts all over the Philippines, Asia, the Middle East, and the US, he is a regular performer in a Sunday noontime show,
ASAP ’07. He had rendered his own versions of songs like
Hands to Heaven, Color Everywhere, and
The Way You Look at Me, which are chart-topping hits. Together with his girlfriend Rachel Ann Go, they sang
Pag-ibig Na Kaya, the Filipino-translated version of
Perhaps Love, the theme song for the Korean drama,
Goong, which is currently aired in Philippine primetime television.
He had his acting debut in the television fantasy series
Kampanerang Kuba. Added to his acting credits is his acting debut for the film
Mano Po 5: Gua Ai Di, and other television acting jobs.
Christian Bautista also has numerous product endorsements for soft beverage products, mobile content provider, clothing, cosmetics and food products in the Philippines and in the Asian region.
Prior to his international stardom, Christian Bautista graduated from the country’s premier university, University of the Philippines, with a bachelor degree in landscape architecture.
