RE: why can't i play
actually, i've been having problems w/ playing rmvb.format files... i used to use mplayer but after the new update to mplayer, it won't play the movies anymore. i even tried to reinstall the older version, but i don't remember which one it was, and can't fix it that way... it'll either crash, or only play the sound, or just loop the first couple of seconds and then crash... i also tried to play it w/ real player, but the subs don't come out in english... do i just need another codex and i don't know it? any suggestions?

RE: why can't i play
I have an Asian movie site so I get this question all the time. I usually suggest downloading the K-Light Video Codecs It's a free download and will almost always correct the problem.

The best player so far: http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/download...tr_lang=en
Choose the biggest pack, it has all the necessary codecs too. It plays practically everything and don't mess up the codecs in your comp.

I agree you have the wrong the codec(audio is right but video is wrong).Easiet way to remedy this is boot up Google, type in Media Convert, click the 1st URL that pops up(its online meaning no downloading is required),upload your file, select both the correct input and output methods, and within mintues or seconds(depending on how many people overall are on the server) your new working movie will be ready to watch
