It been confirmed that China's Hunan Television, which brought the copycat of America's American Idol "Super Girl" will now endeavor a making of the Chinese version of the award-winning show comedy drama, "Ugly Betty", the Information Times reported on Tuesday.

The newspaper quoted Chen Xiaodong, the producer he said that Hunan Television has acquired the rights to re-produce the show, and a Chinese actress has been chosen to take the role of Betty Suarez.

Chen, however declined to talk more about the actress, only saying she is a new face and has potential in acting. Bigger stars are likely to be cameos in the show, he added.

"Ugly Betty," portraying the life of an unglamorous woman, premiered on ABC in the United States in 2006, and won three awards at the following year Primetime Emmy Awards.

i just heard that here in the phil that "Ugly Betty" also to be made in filipino version i just dont know if this will gonna happen because of some sort of mis understanding

This series is getting so popular and versions in various countries are being made... The original from Colombia is entitled "Betty La Fea" and "Ugly Betty" for the US... what will be the working title for China?

... and in the Philippines it could be "Betty Pangit" or "Pangit na Betty" or "Chaka Betty" or "Betty Bakekang"... rofl
