The Shopaholics

CAST

Cecilia Cheung : Fong Fong-Fong
Lau Ching-Wan : Choosey Lee
Ella Koon : Ding Dong-Dong
Jordan Chan : Richie Ho

SYNOPSIS

Fong-Fong was abandoned when she was a child in a department store, and a night mall cop had found her in the store and used her walkie talkie to tell the head office the location of the baby by naming the brands around. Just like that, Fong-Fong grew up to be a shopaholic. She meets with Choosey Lee, a therapist who tries to help Fong-Fong with her addiction. But the doctor himself has a problem, he can never make a decision. Soon he falls in love with Fong-Fong. In comes Richie Ho, a rich man who spends a large amount of money but then will regret his purchases. He meets Fong-Fong when fighting for a cabinet and he falls in love with her as well. Choosey’s ex-girlfriend, Ding Dong-Dong has a problem as well. She’s very cheap and she still loves Choosey. But then she finds that she starts liking Richie as well.

STORYLINE

Funny concept overall. When looking at the blurb on the back of the DVD, I was hesitant to buy it but it came out better than I thought it would. There are many useless and pointless parts but overall the story gives what you want if it’s mindless laughter.

LENGTH

Good length, dragged on a little at the end, but then it sort of sped up at the very end.

ENTERTAINING

I watched this with my mom, and I thought it was highly entertaining, whereas she found it very just confusing. Like I said, some parts are just pointless, and if you like pointless exaggerated stories, this is the movie for you.

MUSIC

Nothing too memorable

LAST SAY…

I think its worthy of watching, but if you like deeper storylines, than this isn’t the movie for you. The love square is very funny to watch, and I think it’s a good movie to watch and just laugh at!

I thought it was an ok movie since Jordan Chan was in it. I liked the part where choosey lee didn't know which kind of martial arts to use on them lol. If you are looking for a fun type of movie, then this movie should be alright.

RE: The Shopaholics
I thought that the movie was pretty good. Its funny how everyone has a problem, even the doctor. I liked the part when they had to decide wat to eat, some couldnt eat too expensive, but had to be worth it and the doctor had to be able to make a decision. I like ella, but i couldnt believe she played a girl that liked SUPER cheap things. She seemed like a kid at times in the movie. I just dont think Cecila and Lau Ching Wan makes a good match. I dont know, maybe age difference, but i dont think they match. The parents are also VERY funny. I remember on the wedding day, someone's mom talked them into doing the right thing and it was sooo confusing when the brides and grooms had to keep switching off partners. I still thought it was a good movie.

Lol I don't remember but Ella played the girl who liked cheap things? Yeah I think I remember but i think in real life, she likes expensive things. Her character was played alright but if they made her like really expensive things, it would make more sense.

i've just seen this movie. i like it. i guess girls will find it most interesting, or at least more than men. i like the idea of this movie. where a doctor can not make decisions trying to cure a girl who either very good in making decisions or don't make a decision and just take them all, a shopaholic. hahah, just have to see it. i recommend it to everyone. the end did not make much sense to me or at least i thought it's a not good enough way to end it.

I've seen it. It wasn't that good. I thought it was funny in the beginning but it started to get really ridiculous in the end and it didn't make any sense.

Yeah, girls will like this movie much more than guys I think. The ending was really weird... but I guess.. it was satisfactory.

yeah, i also thought that the movie was ok. the only reason why i rented it was because of cecilia cheung. the movie had its funny moments and some weird moments. i thought it was weird how they paired up cecilia with andy lau ching wan who is probably like 15 or more years older than her. but overall the movie was all right.

They paired up for this one movie, and it was really successful in chemistry. But then, they paired them up a couple more times, and I guess the age difference just got awkward.
