easier way to hardsub
ok...i don't know if this is the right place to post this but i figure hardsubbing is technology.

so I want to hardsub my videos. but i really don't know how. i looked in the FAQ stuff but i was holy cow, that's a lot of steps. and i seriously am not that good with the whole converting and whatever all that stuff was. there has to be an easier way right?

RE: easier way to hardsub
Well if you're talking about merging the subs with the video file indefinitely then you can just use a program called Virtual Dub Mod.. Just open the video file through VDM and I think the subs should automatically be detected and visible if you have it in the same place as the video. Once opened just save the video as an avi.

Not sure if I answered your question but eh I tried. If you need more detailed info let me know,

RE: easier way to hardsub
I actually have the classic media player which plays the video with subs but I want to put the video on a dvd disc thing. So I'm trying to hardsub the actual video...don't worry, I'm not trying to upload videos on youtube or something.

Wait...what do you mean "indefinitely"?

When you download VDM make sure you also have a program called VobSub which should play the subtitles in VDM

http://www.divx-digest.com/software/vobsub.html

Make sure you install it in the same folder as VDM and also install all the components (click all the check boxes).. When installed open VDM then open your video file. Click on Video>Filters or just press Ctrl-F. Than click the button that says “Add”.. From there scroll down & click TextSub 2.23 (I think it should be 2.23).. When prompted click Open and find the subtitle file and click OK. Now on one screen you should see your video in raw format and the other should play with the subs.

Here is the tricky part.

Make sure the slider is at the beginning of the video. ) Now on your keyboard press the "Home button. Now hold down the "Shift" button and drag the slider all the way to the end of the video then release the shift button but only after you’ve released the mouse, than press the "End" key on your keyboard. Once done with that click File>Save as or press F7 and save your video file.

Oh one more thing you should always change the the codec (where is says uncompressed or something like that click the button next to it) to DIVX logical (Not sure if that's what it's called). This way when you save the file it doesn't save as uncompressed because it will take up 99.9% (exaggerating XD) of your harddrive space!

Now I’m not sure if AVI can be recorded onto a DVD but if you need to convert it I suggest WinAVI Video Converter which you can be cracked via a p2p program.

Permanently

There is also another way which is easier I guess but I prefer VDM because you can play around with the subtitles such as the color and size.. This is a program called BlazeMediaPro.. A free trial can be downloaded here http://www.blazemp.com/

However, you can always crack it. If you do crack it then open BMP and click Edit Video then open the video file and click File>Save As then just save it.. AVI format will give you high quality but it will be a large file.. MPG will give you low quality but it also uses low disk space.
