In recent years, there are evidences that executed prisoners are one of the sources of body organs for transplantation in China. There are shortages of voluntary organ donors around the world leading to people believing that people are turning to China for organ transplantation. More organs are available in China then the rest of the world because China still practices death penalty and prisoners are executed daily for their corneas, liver, heart and kidney. Those who are responsible for taking the organs out are justifying their unethical acts by claiming that since the prisoners have committed crimes in the society during their life on Earth, taking their organs for transplant is a way of paying back to the society. An estimated 2000 to 3000 organs from prisoners each year are used in this manner.

Human rights watch in Asia has discovered in documents and a documentary they have secretly taped, showing that China relies heavily on executed prisoners as a source of organ transplants. This organ trafficking leads to many human rights and medical ethics violation in China.

People who can afford the transplantation could go to China and purchase an organ and have it transplanted. The Chinese government should be condemned for their role in abusing prisoners under article 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states "No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment" It states very clearly in this article that no one shall be subjected to cruelty and inhuman treatment. The Chinese government is taking the prisoners organs without their approval and when they take the organs out, some prisoners are not fully dead. They are kept alive so that the organ taken out of him/her remains fresh. This fully violates and deprives the prisoners their basic rights under article 5. Also the Chinese government violates article 38 their own constitution, which states, The personal dignity of citizens of the People's Republic of China is inviolable. Insult, libel, false charge or frame-up directed against citizens by any means is prohibited? If the prisoner's organ matches the buyer's type, the government will place false charges to speed up the execution. This is an unacceptable action taken by the government of China.

As a citizen living in a democratic country protected with the basic human rights under the Universial Declaration of Human Rights, I believe that some action should be taken. I would like to make this a global issue that it is something we should look at. Please voice my concerns to the Chinese officials and pressuring them to give the prisoners the basic human rights embedded in China's constitution and in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

I don't see anything wrong with this. Am I wrong? If people are going to be executed anyway, why not use their organs for a better cause? Why not save a life if you can?

that is so bad... i sure do support your campaign... i n our place, i am part of this kind of campaign...we also did try to awaken young teenagers to helps us...that campaign is really a noble dream and i salute you for it

i think that since these are-to-be-executed persons are going to die sooner or later... and i think that even they themselves would agree to organ donation since they must not have done anything good in their lifetime... and therefore i think they would be much appreciate and be honoured if they can contribute something back to the society... especially when they are the bad guys... i believe that they shall be receiving some karmas to reduce their sins when they die... and is their organs are being sold... if the money goes back to their family, wouldn't it be good? as an appreciation for his contribution...
