Well, in fact, my history teacher just right down notes on the board where we have to copy it...Then he explain what's on the board! Finally, the studying part is easy!

RE: how do you study for history?
I think sometimes history can be boring and not very interesting.

I think the statement that you made is too general for anyone to give you a good studying method.

If you don't understand the content then you need to spend more time reading the text on your own, however, if you have problem remembering the date and the chronological events in history then, try to relate it to your own life. That's how I remember some of the most important event in history.

Ex. Diana's death 1996 Summer, I can remember that because I was in 6th grade then and it was my first summer in a new country.

Try relating it to sometime in your daily life or your favorite actors' or actress' birthday or favorite band and such.

If you just need to past a test, then use your first test as a guideline as to the sort of questions that you teacher like to ask and then try to narrow down in class as to what can be possible test questions. Pay attention to the subjects or events that the teacher emphasis in class or repeat during class. Those are usually good hints for test question.

I hope this help. I sound like an old fart, but I am not.

I think it also depends on how much you pay attention in class, because the teachers are relevantly understandable if you listen to them. (That is, if you aren't distracted in class by something)

If you really don't understand what the teachers are saying then you could maybe ask them a few questions, or just skim through your notes or textbooks.

If your like me, someone who probably has a memory span of a flea, (Kay, I highly doubt your memory is as bad as mine) then you might want to take some extra time re-reading things over again on your own. I often review what I've learned out-loud in my own time cus' it helps me remember more easily, and it also tunes out loud dsitractions.

I dont know if this helps you any, but it's usually what I do when i study

history is hard for me too. I can't remember those dates with their events..it's like too many numbers that don't make sense.

If there is something in History your ever interested in once learning it you will never forget it.For me though its usually from either watching TV or from reading books and as a result I know every Major Battle of WWII and can tell anyone exactly how they happened

History is really a boring subject, but it is interesting also. If you are better at understanding logic, then you should organize the material in a structured way. You can just read through the chapters before each lecture, and take your own notes, that helps you more.
mistakes are the portals of discovery.
