RE: Japanese is the hardest language to learn?
I don't find Japanese all that hard. The grammar follows a few sets of simple rules which depend on formality or casuality. Hiragana and Katakana are easy characters to learn and the oral stuff is no problem. Kanji is tough because there is so much of it to get through.
I gave up my Chinese lessons,which were just for fun, after two months because I couldn't work out how to put the sentences together. Much harder!

I think that for a person to learn any new language is hard.... but I think it is even harder to learn any asian language because those use dfferent grammar and alphabet
thats true...

RE: Japanese is the hardest language to learn?
I studied some Japanese when I was in college, conversational at best. I find it quite easy compared to my own mother tongue. Not that I'm good at it, but it is definitely not the hardest IMO

RE: Japanese is the hardest language to learn?
Out of most of the Asian languages that I've tried to learn, I think Japanese is one of the easiest. Chinese was the hardest and Korean is in the middle. The article was right about the characters, but I mean, try learning Chinese and see how that differs from Japanese.

RE: Japanese is the hardest language to learn?
I've been studying Japanese constantly since I was 17, and I can barely read a manga, and I can't make it through a few pages without a dictionary. I'm 22 now. Meanwhile, living in southern California since the same time, I am conversational 1 in Spanish, and I can't even stand the language. Plus, the roadblocks you'll go through, "I want everything in romaji", "Why not use hiragana in everything?", "I'm going to memorize Kanji by the grade", "How about rosetta stone?" before you realize the truth, that you have to learn Kanji early on, and you'll probably never be fluent.

And it doesn't help that when I speak to a Japanese person they tell me "japanese very easy! english is hard." ^^;
