CNN insulting Chinese people
Cafferty (CNN host) said in a TV show on April 9 that the Chinese products are "junk" and the Chinese people "basically the same bunch of goons and thugs they've been for the last 50 years."

CNN then issued a statement on Tuesday saying "it was not Mr. Cafferty's nor CNN's intent to cause offence to the Chinese people, and CNN would apologize to anyone who has interpreted the comments in this way." However, the network stated that Cafferty was offering his "strongly held" opinion of the Chinese government, not China's people.

Jack Cafferty said something retarded on CNN which was totally wrong and unacceptable. He is racist and criticized China, underestimate china government. by saying that statement on CNN, he is challenging the Chinese government. Now CNN is facing a lawsuit of 1.6 billion dollars by 14 lawyers in Beijing, China, reason of the lawsuit is CNN and their host Jack Cafferty violated Chinese people's dignity and reputation, and human kind rights. Shame on CNN, bad image. I am very disappointed at CNN, so as everyone in the whole world.

I personally express if he thinks Chinese products are junk, stop trading in China, not everything is junk, and just because of that issue, doesn't mean all Chinese people are stupid.

I say Cafferty is an idiot. He should be fired from CNN.

RE: CNN insulting Chinese people
omg that's terrible... was cafferty fired for his comments? cnn should be sued for letting such racist comments to be aired. he had no right to say something as horrible as that. and did he seriously think he can get away with calling chinese ppl "junk"?
i'm saddened by the fact that after so many years and civil rights movements, there are still narrow minded people who should think before they speak out there.

RE: CNN insulting Chinese people
I watch cnn news alot. I don't think Jack is the kind of person to be expressing that sort of comment. He is probably just quoting from the posts that he usually reads from his poll section.

I love how don imus got fired for anti-black remarks but they don't seem to be doing anything for anti-chinese remarks.

I think saw that part where he said that. I was extremely stunned when I heard it on tv. Reporters really have to watch what they say when they are broadcasting so that they don't offend viewers.

He needs to go back to journalism school again and relearn about journalism ethics regarding ethnicity and sensitivity.

If it wasn't for Chinese manufacturing goods so cheaply, everything will cost five times more.

RE: CNN insulting Chinese people
I think that such stereotypes should not be encouraged, furthermore by a CNN host. It just shows how naive and simplistic in his thinking. I think we should ignore people like him and maybe shower him some pity for not being able to see the bigger picture. It is also a disgrace that CNN tried to give a lousy reason that they are not trying to insult anyone when they already did. Apologizing is not even enough and they are trying to cover up for themselves. Shame on CNN as well. It's like giving all the Chinese people a slap and saying they did not mean to cause any physical harm. Both are clearly unapologetic.
