Should I tell my sister?

Well, my sister has had some pretty serious issues. I have found out about all of them. I was told not to tell anyone. I kept more and more secrets for about a year. I finally burst and told one of the biggest ones to a good friend. I don't know if I can trust this friend, she has told something of mine and I think she learned her lesson. I know she never would hurt me one purpose, but accidental? I worry about this a lot, especially since my sister really needs me and if she can't even trust her own sister?

My parents know (they let it slip to others long ago) and my sister is getting help.

What I did was wrong, I know. But should I tell my sister?

RE: Should I tell my sister?

What are those secrets anyways? You can tell me Twisted

haha sorry bad time to be joking!

I think the right and honest thing to do is to tell your sister... however I know in real life, I wouldn't do it. Sometimes it's easier to pray that your friend doesn't tell anyone else, but if for some reason she does, you might be in bigger trouble later. It's a gamble so you have to make your choice.

But one thing I ask myself when upon difficult choices is "Which of the choices is harder?" and that harder choice would often be the best and 'right' choice to take.

RE: Should I tell my sister?

The only problem is that if I told her, she also would worry if that person would tell. Last time I told her something I found out about the whole issue, she asked me never to talk about what I find out.

RE: Should I tell my sister?

Is this a secret that can ruin everyone's lives? If it is, then maybe keeping it a secret from your sister might be better. If she worries about the other person too much after you tell her, then it might just be more problems and insecurity disorders might develop.

RE: Should I tell my sister?

I've been in your position and the regret, fear and worry were a constant torment.
It's an awful, uncomfortable feeling living that way! I think you need to fess up, for both your sake and sister's. There's this saying I heard..."The truth will set you free, but it may make you miserable for a moment or two."

It does takes courage to clean-up any personal messes. Try to develop your courage by doing a role-reversal thingy.

Ask yourself something like ...What would I want done? For my sis to apologize & talk directly to me about the stupid mistake I made. (And to share my disappointment and regret of betraying her trust in me.) Or continue to wait in fear that she may find out the 'secret' from an outsider.

By fessing up your sis wll at least have no 'surprises' if she hears it out on the street. Lastly, forgiveness is easier to get, if you ask for it. Good Luck and may the Force be with you.

RE: Should I tell my sister?

Winteredrose5162, i'm gonna guess A. your sister had sex or B. your sister had sex and got pregnant. But personally, I believe you should tell her. She'll be pissed as hell at you at first, but she'll eventually get over it. You guys are sisters after all. Humans aren't perfect, we make mistakes. Just remember next time, and learn from your mistake and KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT! (don't mean to be harsh)

Well, you're close with the sex. BUT, she didn't want it and its a bit of a taboo topic.

RE: Should I tell my sister?

if telling her the truth will set you free then tell her, you should responsible for the actions you caused. much more better you tell her than somebody will tell her.

just tell her for your peace of mine anyway you've already done the worse so that your sister will be prepared if things get worst
