I think it i ok for a guy to pay. This has been a custom for a very long time. If girls always pays the guy may think she is to independant.

If I invite the guy out to eat with me, I'd pay. I don't mind splitting the bill or letting the guy pay for the meal if he insists (I'd treat him next time).

As they say when he won't pay or she won't pay go "Dutch", meaning everyone pay their own share. I have been fortunate to date gentlemen that prefer to pay but I don't mind paying. Besides we all work hard for our money, there shouldn't be a rule that says if you are a man you must pay. Besides on a date it doesn't hurt to have your own money.
