Chickenhi

i'll be spending the weekend in Shanghai, China, that's from 12-01-2007 to 12-03-2007. I heard there a lot of places that are worth going to there, but i only have like 3 days to spend (not kidding we already have tickets and reservations), it'll be a short trip... will any helpful souls point me or suggest as to where are the places we might visit while we're there... thanks guys!!! RE: Shanghai weekend HEEEELLLLPPP!!!!!!

Why three days? lol...

There's an article in Time Magazine about one night in a city. Good thing that I remember reading that they've featured Shanghai in one of their issues... you know, just in case I might find myself in China... lol... Anyways, I've checked the Time Magazine website and they've posted it. Here's the link: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/articl...74,00.html

Hope it helped... have fun!

RE: Shanghai weekend HEEEELLLLPPP!!!!!!

hello! here's some of our pics in China, we kinda got lost along the way cause we couldn't speak CHINESE, and neither some of the locals could speak english (obviously) anyways here's a place called the BUND overlooking the New Shanghai, it's where Tom Cruise shot MI:III where he jumped from the building in the middle left to the lower building near it.

.jpg File  TheBund.jpg (Size: 79.07 KB / Downloads: 4)

.jpg File  xintiande.jpg (Size: 65.23 KB / Downloads: 2)

Xintiande, there's a mall (background) here where you can find mostly expensive stuff (clothes, shoes, etc) not that i'd care to get one hehe, foreigners frequent this place cause it's a historical site, old building facades here and there made by the French, Dutch... there's starbucks of course... other coffee shops, eating places here and there (expensive though) There's also the People's Park where you'll see the Shanghai Museum and underneath somewhere in the park is a place called Dmall (like in Boracay)

.jpg File  Dmall.jpg (Size: 79.43 KB / Downloads: 2)

It's like Green Hills Shopping Center in Manila, lots of great stuff, there's also genuine/signature stuff, too. Be prepared to bargain though cause only numbers talk in this place... hehe

anyway, shanghai's a great place to be, that is if we were smart enough to get maps at the airport, by the way we arrived at 2am, flight got delayed in manila, crap. I think we were the last flight that came in 'cause the staff at the airport were saying "kwikly-kwikly" as in "quickly". I think they were already working overtime cause there are absolutely no other passengers in the airport. Talk about a real adventure huh!

It was cold there about 6-10 degrees celcius...grrrr...

Well, that sums it up... I'd wanted to go to the places in the article you posted but like I said we only had 3 days... it was fun, exhausting but nevertheless memorable... go travel... i envy those who get to join "AMAZING RACE!!!"

hAPPY nEW yEAR!!!!! Drink

RE: Shanghai weekend HEEEELLLLPPP!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing your vacation pix.... it's great that you've enjoyed your trip!! Maybe next time you can use the info on that article... lol...

It'll be fun to be racing like in the Amazing Race Asia but then again you couldn't enjoy the scenery and the ambience and the culture since you're always chasing time... lol

... so you're Pinoy, eh?!?

RE: Shanghai weekend HEEEELLLLPPP!!!!!!

I was in Shanghai back in October. Really liked it there, although lots of rip offs about so have to watch out. Generally very friendly though. Highlights were The Bund and Hooters Toungue
