BOYS Over Flowers The Movie is all about how true love overcomes all odds. But, love turns out to be a taboo subject for the leading couple Jun Matsumoto and Mao Inoue.

Here is the short e-mail interview of the two leading actors in the movie with The New Paper.

Jun Matsumoto, 25

Q: What do you think is the biggest appeal of Domyouji? What's your best memory of being Domyouji?

A: I think his charm lies in how he is straightforward in everything he does and how he cares for Makino. After playing Domyouji, I got influenced by how he can believe in people so strongly.

Q: How's your relationship with the other three F4 members in real life? Please share with us a little-known fact about each of them - Shun Oguri, Tsuyoshi Abe, Shota Matsuda.

A: I've known Shun for a long time. He has huge passion for acting. As for Shota, he made me laugh during filming. I think he's changed the most in the show. Abe-kun is a very kind person. He is a gentle person who watches over everyone.

Q: The movies marks the end of the Hana Yori Dango series after three years. Are you sad to let it go, or glad that it's finally over?

A: I believe I've done all that I can for this role. It's a very satisfactory final chapter for me. The strong bond that was built among us left a huge impression on me. I believe when you watch this movie, you will definitely feel it.

Q: In many ways you're like Domyouji, don't you think? He is used to getting what he wants, and everyone fawns over him. You, as leader of boy band Arashi, should also be used to being the VIP and having fans fawn over you. In what other ways do you think you're most like him? Is your opinion/belief on love the same as Domyouji's too?

A: I don't have so much money like him (laughs)! I think I have nothing much in common with him.

Q: Domyouji had to choose between his beloved Makino and his wealthy family. In real life, would you give up fame for love? What's the biggest sacrifice you've ever made in the name of love?

Q: A large part of the movie is about romance. Personally for you, what is the ideal romantic date?

A: (blank)

Q: What do you think is the biggest appeal of Makino? What's your best memory of being Makino?

A: Her unselfishness and straightforwardness for everything, and her 'Tsukushi Punch'. I have punched many people (in the drama series), but the first time I punched Domyouji left me a deep impression.

Q: Makino is a very frank, daring girl who pursues her love in the show. Are you like her in that way?

A: We're alike in that sometimes we can't make up our mind, but once we do, we'd just go straight ahead and do it.

Q: Makino was initially torn between Domyouji and Hanazawa. In real life, who do you find more attractive - Jun Matsumoto or Shun Oguri? How was it working with both of them?

Q: Domyouji says to Makino: 'She has stolen my heart forever' and 'I will stake my life on caring for and protecting you'. Which is a more romantic declaration for you? In real life, how can a guy win your heart?

A: (blank)

Q: The movie marks the end of the Hana Yori Dango series after three years. Are you sad to let it go, or glad that it's finally over?

A: I'm very happy that I was able to produce another piece of work for the series. It was a big challenge but it also presented a big opportunity for us.

i think it's cute how there are blanks for the "dangerous" questions. japanese idols don't want anything to besmirch their names -- always better to play it safe in these interviews.
