RE: Relationship with Parents
I was not close to my parents also, i never talked to them about what's happening to me except, just like you guys, school stuff. until six months ago, when my mom had a stroke and was in a coma. While i was sitting beside my mom's hospital bed in the intensive care unit with all the tubes connected to her and the machine that is helping her breathe, i had a flashback of me and my mom when i was about four or five. She would personally take me to school and fetch me from school even though i have a nanny who can do all those things. She would give me a bath and comb my hair until i feel sleepy. Then i remember when i was about 12 or 13, start of my teenage years, i was slowly pulling myself away from her. Yes, she would scold me at times but at night, when she thought that i was already asleep, she would kiss me goodnight and saying in a low voice how sorry she was to have scolded me that day and that she loves me so much. Those memories of my mom made me realize what kind of a daughter i have been to her and how good a mother she has been to me but i never showed my appreciation nor did i return the love she has given me because i was thinking that it is her obligation as a mother to love me and to take care of me.
After being in a coma for about two weeks, she passed away. Although it was hard for me to let her go without letting her know how i love her so very much, i know that it was already too late.
We can have one or more friends, with divorce nowadays, we can even change our partners but we can only have one set of parents in our lifetime. Let us cherish them, love them and respect them. show your parents how you appreciate them and most of all, TELL them how much you love them while they are still alive.
To My Mother, Ruby, I will be forever grateful to you and I Love You.

thats very touching, atsigrace. Made me realize my own relationship with my parents... Even though we're close, we never really express ourselves. It's too weird for me, I always just shrug every time my mother says she loves me... but they know I love my parents. I just have a weird way of showing it.
It's a LOVE STORY, baby, just say YES!
