Filipino American Nicole Scherzinger, Pussycat Dolls' lead singer, has stated on an interview by abs-cbnnews that she wants to sing the Philippine national anthem on the next Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao bout.
Nicole stated: "It would be an honor to sing the national anthem. So, let's make that happen!" She further stated: "I'm so proud of him. I've been following him. It's just awesome to see my kababayans (countrymen) out there like Apl (de Ap of Black Eyed Peas) and Manny… there's so much pride."
With this request from Nicole, she joined other international Filipino singers like Lea Salonga and Charice in their desire to sing the national anthem on a Pacquiao bout. Traditionally, Pacquiao himself handpicks the performer who will sing the Lupang Hinirang, the country's national anthem.
Nicole also revealed that she has been given the script for the Manny Pacquiao-Sylvester Stallone Hollywood movie:
"... if I'm going to be part of that in any way it will be a blessing."
The PCD are here in Manila for the second time around for a one-night only concert entitled "A Clear Doll Domination: The Pussycat Dolls Live in Manila" at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds on June 11. Kimberly Wyatt, Melody Thornton and Ashley Roberts together with Nicole arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Monday, while Jessica Sutta is not with them due to an injury.
