To describe a change in state (for example, "He will become a teacher next year") use the verb なる.

なる is a class 1 verb that means "to become, to turn into."

To use this grammar form you must follow the following rules.

When describing a change into a...

NOUN
noun + に + なる (polite form なります)
Example: I will become a teacher = せんせいになります。

ADJECTIVE
Na-adjective + に + なる (polite form なります)
Example: Next year the town will become quiet. 来年町はしずかになります。

I-adjective + く + なる (polite form なります)
Example: In winter it will become cold. 冬はさむくなります。
