The Philippines' representative, Karla Paula Henry, 22, won the title of the 2008 Miss Earth pageant this last November 9 at the Clark Expo Ampitheatre in Pampanga, Philippines.

Karla Henry has been crowned the world's greenest beauty, beating out 85 other contestants by claiming the top spot.

The other 3 finalists also received their respective titles: Tanzania's Miriam Odemba (Miss Earth - Air) was the first runner-up, Mexico's Abigail Elizalde Romo (Miss Earth - Water) was the second runner-up, and Brazil's Tatiane Alves (Miss Earth - Fire) was the third runner-up.

The whole pageant was hosted by international Flipino singer, Billy Crawford, along with Riza Santos and Priscilla Meirelles (Miss Earth 2004).

Watch how the finalists answered the question: "If you had the chance to speak to the newly elected US president Barack Obama about the state of our global environment, what will you tell him?"

Hmmm Miss Philippines won in the Philippines O_o.. I always wondered why contestants win often when ever they're in their country.. Not saying she was a bad candidate but IDK I just think the decision might have been biased.. That answer was wonderful though so I gotta admit that. Yay to her though! Representing the Philippines!

Poor Miss Mexico and Miss Tanzania lmao.. They should have had translators so they wont get so nervous while speaking in a language that isn't their native..

I also felt bad for the other contestants too because just looking at the Flipino crowds, they didn't even give them claps...well maybe a few when it was their turn to answer...but I do believe the winner answered well to the question overall

While I'm watching WGM e32, my dad watched the pageant... and when he said that Ms Philippines won, I was a little skeptic but when she was interviewed re: the win and the reaction of a possible biased decision, I became a convert. She's very beautiful and smart... and with regards to a bias decision, the pageant is always held in the Philippines since it was launched a few years ago, so why now? She really deserves it imo

Ah ok I didn't know that about it I thought it was like miss Universe pageants where they hold it in different countries.

no problemo... A Philippine-based organization founded it so it's always held here in the Philippines, but then again they held the pageant partly in Vietnam last year. I wonder why they didn't held it in another country this year...

oh! remember Priscilla Mereilles (sp?), the first cover girl for Playboy Philippines, she's Miss Earth back in 2004... the 4th crown I believe...
