Miss Korea Honey Lee Visits Vietnam for Charity
Miss South Korea 2006, Honey Lee, performed at a charity concert held in Hanoi Friday and expressed her good impressions of the country and people here.
Lee, along with her mother and older sister, gave performances of Kayageum, a traditional Korean zither-like string instrument, at the charity concert, which was part of activities in Hanoi from November 22 to December 2 to mark 15 years of the Vietnam-Korea relationship.
Honey Lee began learning to play Kayageum at the age of four.
Decently in South Korea she was named a Kayageum prodigy by the Kumho Art Center, the most prestigious musical foundation in Korea.
Beautiful and talented she was the third runner-up in the Miss Universe 2007 pageant in May and is now working as an MC for Live TV Entertainment on the Korean SBS television network.
Lee shared at the concert that she would also like to play the dan bau, a Vietnamese traditional single-stringed instrument consisting of a long wooden board with one string.
She said the instrument interested her and she hoped to have a chance to try it.
Lee told reporters that she was familiar with Vietnam through books and television.
She had learnt about Vietnamese children who were affected by Agent Orange, a poison used by the US army during the war in Vietnam.
