hmm I am not in the Military either but I been thinking to join the Air Force. I am not sure if I am..I am scare, I don't know if is a good choice since I am already 24. there is so many things I have to take care of and thats why i am scare to make a wrong choice.
Well I'm a type of person who likes taking risk and doing things with high adrenalin. If you want to do something with the military and taking it really easy, join the Army (suggestion). People have a lot things to do as they grow older. Its all part of life. We all have to learn to balance our lives out.
its the same by me im 18 and i wanna join the army but still dont know what too choose, bcuz i really wanna study for tourisme and travel over the world.
but if i gonna join the army im scared never coming back or i must be send for a long time!! but i really wanna go, i just dunno lolx
Well I really suggest you don't enlist. Put it this way, the higher you score on the ASVAB, the better chance you get things the way you want it.
If you want to travel around the world, the "Navy" may be better choice. Unless you don't like to sit on a ship for months.
As for being sent you for a long time, thats just they way it has to be. We can't always have things the way we want it.
Isn't joining the Army....a way to serve your country?
The Air Force and Navy may having things in your interest.
still never encounter one maybe just you, am i right there youre interested to get in into military as what you posted?
Lolz! Yes I've never seen a military post in these forums.
Yes I'm very interested in Military.
i wanna go but dont wanna leave my family just like what happend to my father
Well its all part of life "Crissiegirl"
Don't get me wrong that I haven't thought about that, but its more of you then the people around you. Like I said above, the higher you score ASVAB.... the better chance you get things they way you want it.
Joining the Marine Corps is a risk I'm happy to take. I may not come back after getting deployed, I may die the moment I step off that plane, but its what I will accomplish that I can myself be proud of...along side my family.
I'm not in the military, but some family members of mine are militarians. I've also stayed in a base for a while before.
Like my uncles and grandpa, at their prime, they were never really around while in the military. I would like to say I probably saw them maybe 1 or two times out of a year when I was younger.
My advice to those who are interested, you should think it over and talk to your loved ones about it. If you have someone you are close to, like a spouse or significant other, you will have to realize that you won't be seeing them or even be able to talk to them when you are deployed. If you decide to have a family and keep them close, you will have to disorient them and move them around quite often. If you decide that you have a change of heart and would like to leave the military, that's tough luck for you, because once you've signed up for a term, you're stuck until that contract ends. If you leave using the 'AWOL' method, you will become a fugitive and be sent to prison if you are to be found.
Though there may be some benefits such as discounts, tax exemptions, cost reductions and accommodations paid for, as well as paid tuition and sign bonuses, you will be quite restricted.
I have seen and heard some families disintegrate in the military, for example, love affairs, infidelity, illegitimate children and divorces will cause you to be demoted in rank. You may also be prone to surgeries and medical attention. A lot of militarians are not able to acquire any other jobs outside of the military after being enlisted for a significant time of their work lives. I have also noticed quite a number of military families and their soldiers seem to be brainwashed. Everything becomes the military, 24/7, which even includes the radio stations and tv shows being watched on tv.
I encourage those of you to think things through when considering enlistment. Its quite a big sacrifice when literally signing your life away.
Thank you for your insights.
Yes I agree...people who ENLIST should really think about it.
My apologies for using this word, but its necessary to prove my point.
The moment you sign that paper and get sent off to boot camp, you're their bitch for the next X years of your life. THat is till you're a commissioned officer.....you get treated a lot better.
When you're in the ROCT program, its very very unlikely that you'll have to go to war...until you graduate or stop going to school.
Again thank you everyone for your insights...
