After the mega popularity of Meteor Garden first in Taiwan back in 2001 and then subsequently Hanayori Dango in Japan in recent years, Korea is also set to have its very own version of Meteor Garden in 2008.

Popular Japanese anime, Hanayori Dango will be adapted into a Korean drama. The Taiwanese and Japanese version of the television drama has achieved phenomenal ratings during its run and the Japanese version which was shown on cable television achieved pretty good ratings and earning lots of fans in the process. The company which will be producing this is Group Eight whose previous works were Goong: Princess Hours and Fantasy Couple. The Japanese rights holder decided to work with Group Eight after learning about its production capability after viewing Goong S.

By releasing this exciting news first, Group Eight has created lots of anticipation and hype over who will be taking the roles ahead of the actual casting. Many netizens in fact are already posting and discussing furiously over who their ideal cast should be since the news broke yesterday.

With regards to the Korean F4, the production team revealed, “We will be choosing based on their similarities with the anime characters. We won’t be choosing based on how popular or how well-known they are.” The Korean version of Hanayori Dango is set at 24 episodes, each clocking in at 70 minutes and will be shown on television in the latter part of 2008.

WOOO!!! that's interesting!!! LOL a korean version of Hana Yori Dango!!!!!! 0____0. lol i've watched all the different version of Hana Yori Dango. Like Meteor Garden, Japanese Hana Yori Dango, the anime and of course even read the whole serie of Boys over Flower the manga. I enjoyed them all! so chea it would be interesting to see a korean version lol. LOL Hyun bin is one of the guys down for maybe role of Doumyouji Tsukasa! LOL. hmm...kinda hard to image him like that...but i won't know till this serie comes out eh? LOL. and Yoon Eun Hye for Makino Tsukushi eh? lol. only two celeb i know in that list haha =]. but chea this is interesting news....and ya i will be waiting to see it when the serie finishes lol. =]. dude Boys Over Flower aka Hana Yori Dango is freaking tooo good! lol storyline is just legendary now haha. always will love this storyline haha =].

I don't think YEH will be effective as Makino Tsukushi. She's a good actress mind you and she did a great job in Coffee Prince... a very great job! but then again she already did a similar role so it'll be confusing for the audience to see her again like that...

I think it would be best to start afresh... like newbies in acting just like Taiwanese F4 and DaS when they started Meteor Garden... the ones listed are old school, I mean they are old in the industry and I can't see them doing a version of a youthful series anymore like the ones listed... Kang Dong Won, Lee Dong Gun and the rest are in their late 20s and some maybe in their early 30s!

wow, korean version of hana yori dango? as much as i like korean dramas, i don't think it'd be as good as hana yori dango. korean dramas always drag, 24 episodes, 70 min. each? ~_~...

im sorry but the casting possibilities soo far wouldnt interest me, i mean the actor and actresses are all big time, but with even such a superstar roster it'll be an even more dissapointing plot, i think they should cast relative newbies or have idol star to be in it rather than some old faces, me personally i wann see

tsukushi: Han ji Hye, i'm watching sweet 18 and her role was so makino to me

domyouji: for some reason i can really see rain being it, simply for the idol persona, but ..

rui: kim jeong hoon? but he'll always be restricted to the secondhand role for me

I wish that the version Korean will be great because I see the version taiwanese and then when after I see the version Japenese I fell in love because the version japenese was SO GREAT !!! so I wish that the version korean will be better =]
