Joo Ji Hoon receives his sentence on the morning of June 23 (Korean time) after pleading guilty to drug use of ecstasy and ketamine.

He got six months of jail time with one year of probation (suspended sentence) and 120 hours of community service. In addition, he will pay 360,000KRW (approximately 280USD) in penalty.

According to Korean law, this means he can suspend his six months of jail time while he is on probation for a year. The offense will be cleared and he will not serve the jail time provided he will remain clean with no crime and drugs whatsoever during the probation period.

The decision was explained: "The nature of the crime is by no means light. However, he has reflected deeply on the crime and has not taken any drugs since the time a year and two months ago. Also, many fans from within the country and from overseas have appealed for an appropriate handling of the matter and sent petitions."

If he serves his probation time and proceed with his 2-year mandatory service, he will be away from the Korean entertainment industry for at least three years and will hopefully come back clean and ready for a fresh start.

Goodbye, Joo Ji Hoon! I hope to see him back after he serves his sentence and service. I think it'll be a good idea to follow the sentence with the two year mandatory service. Will miss him dearly.

i wonder what happened to those that were suppliers... but too bad for JJH, his career just seemed to be taking off and now this. it'll be interesting to see what happens after this and if he can recover...

Even though the sentence was just a slap on the wrist he really isn't getting of easy considering the bigger effect is gonna be what happens to his career.

I think they got more... around 4-5 years... I'm not sure now... oh! This is what javabeans' article says: "As for his partners in crime, actress and trafficker Yoon Seol-hee was given three years in jail, while model and financer Yeh Hak-young and the unidentified Mr./Ms. Jeon were both given two and a half years of jail, but with four years of suspended-sentence probation, plus two years of regular probation and 200 hours of community service."

thanks for the update. glad they got a harsher sentence... but it is sad that all these famous actors/actresses are involved... think of what it'll do to their fans...

Watching the Devil I hope he takes this as an opportunity to reflect and can comeback I don't want him to take his life..Hope he is a fighter. He is such a good actor, I am praying for him to come through this stronger and more determined.
