Jackie Chan is Mr. Miyagi?

Reportedly, action star Jackie Chan has signed on to play the role of Mr. Miyagi in the Karate Kid remake. The movie stars Chan as Miyagi and Jaden Smith (Will Smith's youngest son) as the young hero.

Will Smith will act as a producer for the movie.

The storyline will be shaken up a bit as the setting will be in China rather than in California. The main character will also be called Dre instead of Daniel LaRusso. Another confirmed change is the style from Karate to kung fu. The movie will be entitled "Kung Fu Kid."

The movie is directed by Harald Zwart.

“Kung Fu Kid” is set for a June 11, 2010 release.

wow! looking forward to this! I've seen all The Karate Kid movies including the one wherein Daniel became a girl! lol... and I'm sure I'll like this new adaptation just like the previous ones!

No he's been in several movies already. Pursuit of Happyness was one of them and also The day the earth stood still.

I thoroughly enjoyed the original KARATE KID movies.

While I do like Jackie Chan, I think this idea is a travesty.
