How to Join and Split a File
First, you must download
HjSplit to your computer.
With HJSplit you can not only split files, but also join the split parts back together again.
How to Join and Split a File Step-by-Step:
You will notice that you'll have the option tabs to 'Join' or 'Split' the file.
If you're to split the files into parts, just perform the following steps:
(1) On the HjSplit main screen, choose the
'Split' option tab. (see below)
(2) It should then bring you to this screen with a red background:
(3) Then, press the
'Input file' tab and locate your file that you want to split. Then, choose the split file size that you want to split your file.
(4) After you found the file that you want to split, press the
'Start' option to begin the splitting process.
Note: A collection of split parts is set by files having all the same file name, except for the extension at the end of the file name (.001, .002, .003, etc.) Combining/joining these split parts is equivalent to restoring the original file.
(5) Finally, you will see the message that the splitting process is completed.
To join a set of files, just perform the steps indicated below:
(1) On the HjSplit main screen, choose the
'Join' option tab. (see below)
(2) It should then bring you to this screen with a purple background:
(3) Then, press the
'Input file' tab and locate your file that you want to join.
(4) After you found the file that you want to join, press the
'Start' option to begin the joining process.
Note: please note that
only the first file in the set of split parts (the .001 file)
is visible in this dialog. It is important that all split parts are in the same folder. When the other files which belong to the set of split parts (.002, .003, .004, etc.) are in the same folder, HJSplit will automatically find them during joining.
(5) Press the
'Start' button to begin the joining process.
(6) Finally, you will see the message that joining is completed.
