I was watching a TV show and it showed that a hotel room in Japan was incredibly, I mean incredibly small. It looked like it was just a small bed in a wall. Are there a lot of hotels like that in Japan or what?

Would probably depend which type of hotel you stay. Japan does have limited dwelling space, but if you want a decent size room full of entertainment and a room that's considerably larger than most other hotel rooms you'll find in town, I'd sugged going to a "Love Motel". If you were to go to Odakyu-Machida area, they're scattered all over. Can be a little pricey, (70-100 dollars a night), but the entertainment they provide you is up to par, exciting and they even provide satellite television, allowing you to watch your favorite American television movies and broadcasts.
