Ah I came upon this in my ethics class last year! Even though it has the ability to prevent diseases, it's just much too scary for abuse... In the craziest scenario, everyone might want an "Altered" child; a child that will eventually win the Gold Medal at the Olympics, be the sharpest shooter in the army, or be presidential geniuses. This for sure is gonna be very expensive, so most likely only the rich will get this privilege, and with their "super-powered" kids, they could rule the world. I could already see all the protests and hate against these kids from the rest of the world... and might divide us people between the normal humans and the altered. It would be more or less like the conflicts in X-Men.

Even if it was difficult to make them, I'm pretty sure the Government, with all their power, would push to make the ULTIMATE soldier no matter the costs. Perhaps they already made one...

Also a good example of this would be like the game MAPLESTORY. One of the reasons I hate it is because everyone who is the same level and job as me, is EXACTLY the same. The only thing different is our appearances, because it depends on how much money we have. But our skills, our attacks, dexterity points are all exactly the same... This is because we all want to be the best and usually there is only one set way for all of us to do that, so we follow a guide...

If we offered genetic alteration of their unborn babies, there is no doubt that they are going to want to shape it to be the most successful person in the world; And anybody who wants someone like theirs, would follow suit.

It is only right when it is the health of the child is in question... if there is a high chance for a health condition after birth and it is controlled by your genes, then it is ok... i could not think about any other condition it would be ok...

Simple. If you mess around with genetics you start playing God; and that is definitely something one should not do. We are made the way we are made for a reason. Whether we truely understand what's all behind it or not will not alter the sceme of things. We can barely get ourselves off the planet we live on; do you really think we are smart enough to improve on what God has made and done. Talk about vanities.

i dont think its right or wrong for me its not good to change living creature into something from their own category,actualy not yet heard about this genetic engineering,but for the peope who do this i hope they have good purpose to change the living creature..
