News Update: as of March 30, 2009
The name 21 became 2NE1 due to another artiste having the same name who debuted back in 2005. The added NE in the new name stands for "New Evolution".

YG Entertainment has revealed earlier today (March 27, 2009) the official name for their new female group dubbed by netizens as the Female Big Bang. The name is 21.

Just like the age of 21, their music will be as fresh and will also mean never lose like in the game of blackjack. With Big Bang's Gdragon as one of the producers of their debut album, it's not hard to imagine.

The group is reported to be debuting on May 2009 but it might be earlier seeing that they already appeared in LG Cyon's Lollipop phone CF released today together with another YG Entertainment group, Big Bang. Read news here.

The team leader will be CL and the rest of the members will be Gong Min Ji, Park Bom, and Sandara Park.

the CF is like whOa..really colorful..I don't mind some of the girls outfits and styles buttt uhhh, didnt wearing your underwear outside a lil tacky? O.o

lol! i think it's one of those body suits and not an underwear... it doesn't make it any less tacky though. Big Grin

the music is catchy, and i say it's a nice way to debut. coming out in a CF with Big Bang which is like on of the biggest idol group there (at the moment). that's one way to get noticed. lol!

ellechar7 is right... it's some sort of leotard... and it supposed to be worn that way. The look is very 80s and I like it! I remember my sister having such an hair piece like Sandara's! lol... wah! I never thought I will like the 80s fashion! lol

at least now they had this own name group for us to know not that female bigbang group. Sandara's aura is cute most specially her hair.

according to this article/posting their name is 2NE1 now coz of their previous name of 21 being taken by a male singer already. good luck to them!
