Edison Chen hold a press conference in Kowloon Trade Center at 3 in the afternoon and read the statement in english (chinese translation will be given to the media) and declined to answer any questions.
Here is the brief report of the press conference:
- Admits that he took the photos
- Sighs and says he is not shirking responsibility
- Has been with his family all this while
- All photos are his private items and he did not meant for them to be uploaded
- He will exit the entertainment industry
- Says sorry to all those involved in this scandal
- He had gone overseas to heal his "wounds"
- Will co-operate with police to solve the case
- Has given his consent to lawyers to take legal action
- Thanks the public for giving him a chance to apologize
- Will devote his energy towards doing charity work
- Hopes that everyone can forgive him
This should not have ended like this... he has contributed in the entertainment industry and made a positive mark. He should not be judged by one stupid mistake against numerous good doings in the past. Granted that he indeed took the pictures and INDIRECTLY the reason for the exposure of nudities of celebrities, but he is magnanimous enough to apologize... It takes strength of character to assume responsibility in public... It takes a strong man to step down the ladder of fame and apologize in public...
I'm sure the one who exposed the photos was once a fan... I hope he or she or they are now realizing the magnitude of what they have done to the lives of others... to the life of Edison... Profit or no profit, preservation of life should still be considered at all cost!
Awwh...noooooo! >_<
I knew it will come to this one day...where the humiliation will conquer everyone's dream and hardwork they put on their careers.
I must agree, it takes a man to step up from the hiding and FINALLY admits to the public for the pictures and apologize for what had happen. I believe he shouldn't have left the entertainment industry even though even if he didn't leave...people's reaction and reputation on him has drawn down and wouldn't want him in the first place.
There are pros and cons for him leaving the entertainment industry but it a true fact that the celebrity life isn't always so pleasant...
after watching the video... I really am deeply saddened by the turns of event... I really hope in time that the wounds will be healed and that if the scandal is not forgotten at least the victims, Edison and the ladies, should be be forgiven...
Thanks Joanna for the video... anyways, here's the complete presscon:
That is awful! I feel so bad for this guy as well as the woman effected.. I only hope that he dose not put a complete halt in his career.. He is to good an entertainer to just give up his dreams like that.. If anything I hope this will be inspiration for him to peruse a career in the states..
