Hello There, Guest! (Login — Register)
It all depends on the movie or series. Asian customs and styles tend to be different over here in America so somethings you learn from those sorts of entertainments will just make you look weird.
The only thing asian series and movies help me in are knowing more vocabulary from a different language but other than that, not at all.
I haven't really thought of this. I think you can learn what not to do in a relationship, but come on. Dramas are dramas; They are not based on reality and such.
Sometimes the relationships obviously won't happen in real life, but I think some series teach you to like yourself for who you are. They also improve your language, for me my Chinese vocabulary exploded, and when their were mandarin scenes in Cantonese series, I started catching the words, and now I can understand mandarin a bit!
Do watching American TV series/movies, help? Or watching TV series/movies from other countries?
I think we watch pretty much what we want to watch and in the end value what we think could help our lives, at least, for the now.
As an Asian, I think our TV and movies are better in the sense that our emotions are open, and more sincere.
