RE: Depression

committing suicide is never the answer...
i'm sure you've heard this before...but suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem..
and think about all the people that care about you...what about ur family or ur friends?? they would be soo devastated...
no matter all the stuff thats happened in u life or if ur just depressed you can allways make it better.

I have been very very very depressed in my life before. It was also pretty recent. At that point i felt like being non existant was better than living in my life. I thought that anything would have been better than being in the life that i was in and i didnt want to have to deal with it. I was depressed about 95% of the time. I wrote in my blog explaining while everyone was enjoying life, i was in a miserable state. My friend would encourage me to not think of suicide and that it would not help. I felt like i needed to get my anger and frustration out and i just write. I use writing as a way to express myself. Like in poetry, i wrote a lot of them when i was depressed. All the poetry was dark and none of it was happy. At times you just need to let it all out, in words, art anything, but self destruction. At times i wish i could see a therapist or something, but i feel that writing can help me relieve some of the pain. You might want to talk to someone you feel comfortable with and just let it out. I had a supportive friend that listened to me and helped me through it all. At certain times, i still feel like depression makes a comeback in parts of my life, but then i realize tat i can get through it if i believe in myself and not give up. I think suicide is a way of just giving up and not trying. I feel that people take that as a short cut out of life when it becomes too hard for them, but i think if you dont think about it, you can experience many things that can make you happy.

Good that you got through it

RE: Depression

i was a depressed child also. my parents knew but being who they are.(pride, way they were brought up etc.) they ignored the fact that it was a problem.. everybody is different and obviously they reactions towards helping is different. i found that the only way i could overcome my depression was through shopping..!! until i was left with nothing.. because i was rasied to deny my feelings i could never accept the fact that i was depressed. it was then that i found god and he helped me get through the tough times. you have to fight it!! regardless. if ever you doubt yourself..just think of all those poor people in the 4th world counrties..they have nothing and even they are happy..why cant u be? eberyone has a purpose and a reason for being here.. suicide is not the answer.. its a way of escaping yes but..its selfish../ just how i feel..sorry if i offend..

RE: Depression

I’m diagnosed with depression.. I’m currently taking an antidepressant which helps.. I don’t know what caused my depression because I was always an active person before I got depressed and it seems as if after I got depression I became even more depressed. The antidepressant suppresses those feelings but a day without my meds and I’d breakdown. I haven’t had any thoughts of suicide yet, and I say yet because antidepressants can sometimes increase thoughts of suicide but thankfully I haven’t thought of that. It’s not a good thing having depression. It’s hurts emotionally. It is also physically draining. Without doing anything all day you can still feel as if you’ve over worked yourself. I try to stay as active as possible though which keeps me from an emotional breakdown.

this post is a perfect answer for antidepressant.. everyone has a stage in life where they go through depression.. the only thing left to do when your down is simply pull yourself back up! suicide will give no profit whatsoever.. it will just make other people who love you (like your family or close friends) depressed too.. one thing you need to ask yourself, why are you depressed? being depressed is really not good for your health.. try have a more positive look towards life, plan your schedule ahead, this wont change your depression immediately but hey, change is never that fast isn't it? its a gradual process.. one small step at a time towards a brighter day is all it takes.. meet new friends, try new things, what do you love to do? do it! don't look down on yourself.. and also, smile.. it may sound cliche or corny but it helps..

Most people think depression can be resolved easily by being active. That’s really not an issue. Depression can affect many people even people with a very active lifestyle. I myself was a very vigorous person. I enjoyed going out to parties and movies with friends and family. I enjoyed life but suddenly I was stricken with this unhappy emotional feeling which depleted my energy little by little. I became emotionally tired, drained and saddened without knowing what the hell was wrong with me. I stop going out and even missed school a lot. It didn’t help that I suddenly developed social anxiety and was afraid of going out because I was to focused on what people were thinking or saying about me. Now that I take antidepressants I’m active again, I go out more with my friends and work also keeps me active but being active doesn’t help much. I wish it were that easy but really isn’t.

RE: Depression

Well depression is caused by the lack of happiness really, since you can't be happy and depressed the same time. Therefore, you need to find that one thing that may make you happy and use it to live with. Like what Marumai said, "Smile!" If you can't find something happy, trick yourself into being happy! Laugh out loud spontaneously, like a maniac! Spam the boards for fun lol idk do something to make you laugh! Don't worry about the future and just think about the present. The most important thing is to handle this depression with your friends or family (including us forum members) and never alone. Talk to someone about your feelings to get you through this depression. We're all here for you ^_^!
