Computer language

People always talk about computers with word like gigi bites (I sorta know what that one is, just an example) but I don't understand most of it. I wantto buy a laptop at some point but I don't know that much and I think I'll easily get riped off.
So I'm basicly asking for computer lingo 101. Please help.

RE: Computer language

Lol

Gigabytes you mean.
That's basically 1024 megabytes.
Basically space.
Nowadays, computers should have at least 1GB worth of RAM, so look out for that.
If possible, look for a computer that has Windows XP instead of Windows Vista, those may be rare though.
Since you don't know much about computers and such, I assume you're the casual user.
You can easily find a nice computer with 1 GB of RAM and around 80GB worth of HD (Hard drive)
with a nice graphics card for a nice 700-1000$ mark.

With a higher RAM, your computer will run faster.
If you have a high-end processor, then your computer will.. Well, process faster. lol
My laptop has a 2.24 ghz worth of processor, so its really nice.

Generally, casual users can also do with a 512 Megabyte RAM with around 60GB of disk storage
since they really don't do much. I just recommend better hardware because of the future OS that will come out. u_u

...If you need more details, just ask me or something.
