Chinese people like light skin?

Is it true that Chinese people tend to like light skin more than dark/tanned skin?

mainland people and traditional chinese people do. My mom sure does and all of her old friends. Americans don't care, in fact they probably prefer darker and more tanned skin.

i think that the oriental perspective is that...
wayyy back in the day..
lighter skin = you stayed inside as scholar/intellectual
dark skin = farmer/laborer

I said most, not all. Korean people may also think that tanned skin is sexy, but most like fair skin.

White skin on Asian people looks porcelain and creamy, unlike white people who just look pink to me. But sometimes, being too fair skinned is kinda nasty. I remember looking at this one Japanese girl's legs and realized that they look a lot like elongated marshmallows with no pigment. It's kinda gross to me.
