RE: Chinese people like light skin?
Chinese people who were born and raised in Asia like light skin on women beacuse dark skin suggests that you come from a poor background and had to do hard labor outside. Dark skin on men is ok for some reason, quite a few HK male celebrities have fake tans...quite gross. But Chinese people born and raised outside of Asia don't really have preference for light skin and may even prefer tan skin. I personally think light skin makes people look sickly.

One thing for sure, the lighter the skin, the more visible the pimples. The preference is dicatated by the media. In mainland a lot of the mags advertise really Pearl white models. From a health perspective too much sun is bad for you and not enough is bad for you so finding the fine line to nice skin involves some playing to see what suites you. ciao

I think it is true a lot ... not all chinese like light skin cuz my mom gets a little on the b***chy side sometimes cuz of my skin tone cuz I take after my father and we've had dark skin ever since we were little...she's like most chinese where her skin is really porcelain white which sometimes i'm envious of.

RE: Chinese people like light skin?
Chinese and asians in general like white skin. Koreans and japanese also like white don't they (since when was tanned fashionable).

Just look at BoA!!! She used to be tanned but each album, she gets whiter! Whenever u go to asian countries, they never sell tan creams or instant tans --- they sell whitening products...

Westerners also used to like white skin (means ur richer bcos u stay indoors!) but they like tanned now. Personally, good choice...

Tanned asians usually go really dark and white westerers go a sort of paleish white. WHite asians are more pearly clean and tanned westerers are a nicer brown-gold!!! SO GOOD CHOICE!!! ^___^"

i prefer my skin to be kinda tan, sometimes i wish i was a bit whiter XD

RE: Chinese people like light skin?
I think so because I know my parents always say (about babies) "fay fay bak bak" which literally translates to fat fat white white. So I think that asians have a preference towards a lighter skin tone. I don't really mind, my skins fairly tanner than my parents because I go outside mroe though
