why not? do you think only of romance or sex with a person of the opposite sex? if you are, then you´re sick...i have two best friends both girls.

umm..i tried being best friends with a guy once..
then we ended up dating then breaking up.
so then now its not as good as it was before =[
but now i have a different guy best friend and i feel totally comfortable with him. =]
and i dont feel like we will go out.
but if that becomes a possibility....i would definitely take the freindship

Well, my best friend's male, and I never ever even thought about dating him, and he neither. So I don't think it's entirely impossible to be best friends with the opposite sex, but I do agree that for quite a lot of people it's hard. Because when you're best friends, not only friends, than you're really close to each other and it's hard to put a line between that and a relationship...
A friend of mine once put up a nice theory, that we're only good friends with people we could imagine having sex with... I don't think so, cause with some of my friends... uh uh... never. But he's sure he's right. ^^;

My best fired is a girl and neither of us have ever thought of each other sexually in any way.. We’ve been friends since we were 7 and our friendship is still the same only now she is bi sexual which might explain why she was friends with a guy lol no I kid I kid I love my friend like a sister so yes guys and girls can be best friends..

I agree, its very difficult for a guy and a girl to become best friends when they are older. When you spend a good amount of time with the other person you start to develop feelings and that leads to actions which are bound to cross the friendship line.

it's possible, i myself can prove that because i have a man bestfriend and i am more comfortable with that. we've been friends since childhood. it's really nice to have a man bestfriend or friend either because you'll also learn something with them and also you can get insight about them .
